Packing and Storing Holiday Decorations: 3 Simple Tips

Now that the holidays are over, you can knock yourself in the head for all the money you spent on useless gifts for friends and family. If you pack and store your decorations properly, at least you won’t have to worry about spending any money to rebuy them next time around.

Ditch the cardboard boxes. The moisture and acid from these boxes can damage your decorations. Not to mention a cardboard box stuffed with holiday décor is the perfect spot for bugs and dust bunnies to make camp. Instead, opt for plastic storage bins with air-tight seals.

Use acid-free wrap. When you wrap your delicate décor, use bubble-wrap or tissue paper that’s acid-free.

Sort and label. You can sort by type, color, size or shape. Keep hardware with the appropriate decorations so you can find them. Also, labeling containers will make it simpler to identify stored items.

Packing and storing decorations properly will keep them in pristine condition so you can easily pull them out when you’re ready to use them again.
