The Golden Gate Park in San Francisco welcomes more than 13 million visitors each year. The park engineer William Hammond Hall and master gardener John McLaren created an oasis for the people of surrounding areas to enjoy the natural world. The park offers 1,017 acres full of gardens, playgrounds, lakes, trails, and monuments. There are also regular events and activities that are held at the park.

Camp Mather has offered families 90 years of activities in San Francisco. There are many different water sports that are offered in the crystal clear lakes and swimming at Birch Lake and Pool. There are also plenty of fish in the surrounding streams and lakes. Days are ended with nights of dance, campfire songs, and games.

Mount Diablo offers views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Farallon Islands and many more iconic places. It also offers a summit visitor center that is open every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is also a gift shop and different exhibits which chronicle the history of the mountain. The observation deck includes telescopes to allow visitors to enjoy the beautiful views offered at the mountain. There are ancient marine fossils that are embedded in the sandstone walls of the visitor center. The center also features a rotunda, which was historically used as a beacon for aviators. Once a year on December 7th, a light is turned on at the rotunda in memory of those who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor.
